Doula Research Findings:
The largest systematic review of continuous labor support, published in 2011, reported ...obstetric outcomes were most improved and intervention rates most dramatically lowered by doulas. According to a summary of the findings of this review, the doula-supported women were:
"Amy was an amazing Doula during the birth of my son Rowan. I can't imagine her not being there. She offered tremendous amounts of support to both me and my husband. She knew exactly what to do and say during each stage of labor and really helped me stay focused during the hardest moments. Amy really knows how to do great hip squeezes, and will do them for hours if you need her to! She helped us have the birth that we wanted, a completely natural childbirth. She has a very calm presence and doesn't judge you for any of the choices that you make. I joke with my husband that we will have to come back to Utah (we just moved to California) when we have another baby because I can't do it without Amy!" (J.D. - Clearfield)
"Thank you again for all you did to create a beautiful, birth experience for me!"
"Thank you for all your support while I was in the hospital. The C- Section threat was always looming, but we held our ground, but not without your support. I'm glad we could call and get your thoughts during the threat of C- Section and because of that, I had him vaginally and without an episiotomy." (K)
"Thank you for sharing the Bradley Method with us, and teaching us how beautiful a natural birth can be."
"Amy's class was very helpful in preparing us to have a natural childbirth. She is very thorough and knowledgeable on many topics so she could go into more depth or answer questions we had. She also gives you access to A LOT of resources. Her positive view of childbirth helped instill in us the confidence to "trust the process" and helped us to be relaxed throughout labor. I think the best benefits of the class were helping us to feel confident about being able to have a successful childbirth and helping us, particularly my husband (I had previously done a lot of research) understand the birth process. Her class definitely helped both of us have not just a successful natural childbirth, but also to have a wonderful experience as well!"
"Amy is fantastic! Her class was very informative and fun. She is very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you may have. She really wants you to understand everything. She helped us feel comfortable with the birth process so that we were able to have a natural birth. We were able to contact her outside of class with any questions and she was willing to stay after class so we could to talk to her. She really cares about you, wants to make sure you and your baby are healthy, and that you have a great birth experience. I would recommend her to everyone!"
" Amy was an invaluable asset to us during the recent, natural VBAC birth of our daughter. She was a wealth of information and support, always pointing out options but supporting us in whatever we ultimately decided. Her presence during my labor enabled my husband to focus on what I needed from him, while Amy filled in the gaps. Her encouragement during the difficult moments made such a difference for me—I’m not sure I would have survived transition if she hadn’t been there to tell me the end was in sight! We’re not sure if another baby is in our future, but if it is, we will definitely want Amy there to guide us through labor and delivery again." (J.Z. - Layton)
"I was lucky enough to stumble upon Amy's Bradley Course and sign up just in the nick of time. I had wanted a natural childbirth and our midwife had suggested that we study the Bradley method as she felt it was the best at properly preparing a woman for what her body could expect during labor. It was great advice! And Amy was the perfect fit. Not only was she passionate about the Bradley Method, she was also passionate about the students in her class. She got to know us as individuals and helped us meet our specific goals. We developed a birth plan specific to my needs and wants, and she developed a game plan to help us get there. The Bradley course prepared me for labor far better than I could have ever expected. I can't imagine not having taken this class!"
"We enjoyed working with Amy so much that we also hired her as our doula. I am so grateful for her care during my labor. She made sure I got to the hospital at the right time (not too early and not too late!), and helped ease my labor discomforts with massage and counter-pressure techniques. I truly can say I wouldn't have reached my goal of a drug-free labor without her by my side. She knew exactly what I needed to help me through the tough times. Her presence was also a great comfort to my husband. She was an invaluable resource and we will definitely have her as our doula again in the future!" (B.L. - West Bountiful)
"I took the infant message class for my reflux/colicy baby girl! She was about 1 month old when we started the class. She wasn't gaining weight and she was really struggling. After starting the class our baby started doing loads better! I knew the message movements to help her when she was fussy and gassy. This class was awesome! My baby girl is now 11 lbs and doing great! Thank you so much for all your help!" ~ (K.M.)
"Amy was our Bradley teacher & doula for both our births. Being able to have first of all learned all about how birth really works and then, secondly to have Amy as a second set of hands at our birth were both the greatest assets of having our births go the way we truly wanted." (A.A. - North Salt Lake)
"Amy, I can't say enough how much I appreciate all the information and advice you've given us throughout both of our pregnancies. You are one rockstar of a Bradley teacher!" (J.J. - North Salt Lake)
